I didn't say I had never been ripped off, I said, and I quote "Sure, there are scams there too, but I have never been totally ripped off by all comers as I have in Bali".
I have been ripped off in other countrties in Asia, but in Bali, everyone is looking to rip you off. In travel in Asia I have always been able to find some genuine people, but in Bali (and despite real attempts) I have found no-one who is not just out to remove money from my poeckt by whatever means possible.
Bali just seems to have an ingrained culture of ripping tourists off. Seems weird to me given tourists are relied on the for the economy.
Everywhere has its scammers, cheats etc, but Bali just seems to be the majority of people. I for one am sick of having to watch my back all day every day, you cannot even fill up with fuel without having to ckec the the pump is zero'ed. Yes this happened to me as well.
