this highly religious time in Indonesia is as follows:

Ramadan is not eating (fasting during daylight hours) and lasts a month.
Lebaran is lots of eating (two days of celebrating with family and friends anytime of the day) Lebaran occurs at the end of Ramadan.

But it's not all about eating ! There are visits to the mosque and lots of prayers.

I speak from personal experience! My mother is Javanese and a Muslim.

Near the end of Ramadan 'Mudik' occurs or as my mother calls it'pulang kampung'
It's my favourite time of the year. 🙂
