On a recent Jetstar flight JQ117, departing at 13:30 on the 20th January to Bali, I found on arrival at the Qantas Lounge that it was closed at 10:30am. Five other Qantas Club members on the same Jetstar flight were also waiting at the time for the lounge to open.
On enquiring with the Qantas by telephone, I was advised that it wouldn't be opening until 4pm that day. I found that amazing since the Qantas website says, 'To enjoy access to domestic and international lounges, you need to have a Qantas or Jetstar flight number on your ticket for your onward flight'.
I enquired with the Qantas Club after arriving back in Australia, and was informed that the lounge in Perth closes from 09:30 to 13:00 four days per week and 09:30 to 11:00 on the other three days regardless of there being international Jetstar flights.
On checking the Route Map on the Qantas website, I found that Qantas no longer even has any International flights from Perth, which is disappointing in itself, but for it not to open its lounge when there are Jetstar flights departing begs the question of just what benefit there is to be a Qantas Club Member for Western Australians who travel internationally? I also asked why West Australian members weren't informed of the changes as part sending them a membership renewal.
I know things have not been going well recently for Qantas (despite the obscene salary packages offered to its CEO) but I expect better service for my $485 per year fees and loyal membership. I was also informed by the Qantas Club staff that I'm not even entitled to any refund if I resigned from the Club.
Any other Perth Qantas Club members had the same problem?
