I remember in the very early eighties Monkey Forest Road was a dirt road, with big open drains and little "bridges" across them to get in to the shops.Rice paddies and ponds everywhere. If you stayed up the hill you walked home in the dark or hopped on a bike! It still has that lovely village feel after the tourist buses go home, but those footpaths are killers. I love the idea of the fluoro vest! I never walk on the footpath, but. It gets a it hairy sometimes.
