I agree that east coast riding is great. Quieter roads and some impressive views. Although unsealed the coast road south from Amed thru Ass to Amlapura is one of the great bike rides.

If you can manage a couple of days - ride west from Dps to Balian Beach. The traffic can be hectic with lots of trucks coming to and from Gilimanuk but patience will get you there.

Overnight at Balian and then head back 20km of so to Antosari and take the road north through Papuan to Serit on the coast west of Lovina. The "Antosari road" is little known outside the local area - I had difficulty even confirming its existence. It is sealed all the way and follows the ridge tops and valleys close to the eastern border of the Taman Nasional. Much of the road is quite remote, traffic is not a problem and you are unlikely to see any tourists.

I rode the Antosari road last May on a Vario and returned to Ubud via Bedugul. It was a great trip. I am thinking about doing the ride again this year so that I can explore Lalang-Linggah and try the climb from there up to the Antosari Road.
