Well said that's why I went and looked again. Not sure about the Kuta and Perth analogy as I said the suburb of Kuta was a hole not the greater area that includes Sem, Kerobokan etc. Funny my mates who live there call northern part of Legian the rabbit proof fence that keeps out the trash.
I will keep an eye out for the Bounty, Paddys, Skygarden and other 'watering holes' that pump out insanely loud noise in "up market" Seminyak-must have walked right past them. The Library did have some loud Stan Getz playing the other night...
Also think the Bali 9 were staying in that lovely jewel called Kuta
When I rate a place I look at the whole picture-the am and the pm then I can be more confident of my opinion Nice to know some like Kuta especially the schoolies etc that you obviously think make the place 'magical'
