I think reviews can be misleading. People have different expectations of hotels and so will rate them differently. Some of the things people complain about are genuine but many seem more a sign of expecting champagne accommodation on a beer budget. :)

I had friends stay at Febris in August for 10 nights and they loved it. They were first timers to Bali staying in a family room with 2 adults and 3 kids (10-15yrs). The room was big and they said the breakfast was great. I visited them there and it all seemed nice and clean and the pool area looked good if you have kids.

I didn't fancy the hotel for myself, but I travel solo, and prefer the smaller places with more gardens and less kids :).

It all depends what you're looking for really. I've read some of the trip advisor reviews for Febris and it seemed to me like some people picked the wrong hotel for their needs, rather than any genuine gripes. Eg, a couple who wanted a quieter hotel in a quieter area shouldn't have picked a hotel that caters to families, right on a busy Tuban/Kuta road.
