Hi all hoping we can get some rough advise about marrying in Bali as Australian Nationals.
We have read some Australian Government sites & are a little confused. My daughter & her fiancé are considering marrying in Bali & would like to just use a Civil Celebrant (Civil Registry Office). From the following wording off the indonesianembassy.gov.au website it states:
It states "Generally, Indonesian nationals, and persons of any other nationality may marry in Indonesia provided they hold a religion recognised by the Indonesian Government (Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, or Christian Catholic/Protestant).
Under the Indonesian Marriage Law marriages may be performed by Ministers of Religion, officers of the Kantor Catatan Sipil (Civil Registry Office), or the Kantor Urusan Agama (Office of Religious Affairs)"
Does this mean you can chose between the three, Minister of Religion or Civil Registrar or Office of Religion Affairs? or you must choose one of the recognised religions, have a Minister of that religion & a Civil Registrar perform the ceremony?
Any advice from people who have married in Bali would be appreciated? And yes we will contact the Australian Government for detailed, up to date advise, just interested to hear what others have experienced.
TIA
