in Bali after my 'then husband' returned from a trip there with friends (I was meant to go but stayed to run our motel instead)and three days later a girl arrived at the hotel to return the toothbrush he had left in her room. That was in 1991.
Then in 1993, a conference I was attending in Jakarta was moved to Kuta and as I had prepaid everything, I felt obliged to go even though I grumbled about it until about the time we landed. With in minutes of checking into our hotel and going to find drinks and a pool (in that order) I had fallen in love. Returning in 1995 when I was in love with the man of my dreams (RIP) and spending so many beautiful moments in so many different places. You would drive around a bend in the road and have your breath taken away by something divine. The sunsets and sunrises, everything. The whole four weeks was fun and just beautiful.
One of my favorite trips was taking my 16 year old daughter with me in 2004, whilst 5 months pregnant with my second son. And in 2011 when I took my three sons for their first trip I knew I was in a place that just felt like home.
Now I am planning my trip for Sept and Oct which will see me take my 'now husband' there for his first visit. Our sons are so excited to 'show him the ropes' and to spend some quality time with him. This will be the first time the kids and I have had a holiday with him that has lasted longer than three days. We will get to see a relaxed man instead of the man who is constantly working too hard. We just can not wait!
