Hallo BTF!
What a very long time it's been! I've just been reading my JBRs ("Domskip's Diaries") from 10 - yes, TEN!! - years ago. Unfortunately it's been that long since Dom and Skip last visited beautiful Bali. Of course the saddest thing to re-read was the mention of our "last visit" to the Sari Club - who could have known how true that statement would become. That and so many other things will have changed.
Now finally we are heading back, but this time with TWO children! So not as many pints of G&T this time methinks! A whole different ball game... This time not dossing down in a bare room with no grout between the tiles (what detail!) but staying in a family suite at the Ramada Bintang (well, couldn't do entirely without "Bintang"!!).
So I would love to hear about any scary (!!) changes that might otherwise shock the system. One major one I note is that the exchange rate has about doubled in our favour during the time - presume that means the prices on the street have done the same? The VOA is new for us too. The queuing concerns me a bit after 5.5 hrs (from Adelaide this time) flying with small people (7 & 2) arriving close to dinner/bed time - any tips?
Also would be very grateful for tips and recommendations re good tailors in the near vicinity of the Bintang as well as restaurants with kid friendly opening hours (dinner at 4pm where possible!). I'm sure more questions will pop up over the next couple of weeks before we go!
Thank you, forumites, it's good to be back - can't wait to be BACK!!!
