We also used the cba atm machine near waterbom, when we inserted the card, there was a split second black out (perfect timing), and our card stayed in the machine. We also rang the help service, who said that they would be there shortly, we asked where they would be coming from, they said Jakarta...so we went to bed and gave up on that idea.The next day we went and seen Adrian (from Bali Garden Hotel), this was back in 2004, he contacted the back on our behalf, and within 2 days we had our card back (after attending the bank, and showing passports)We have learnt our lesson from this, never travel without a backup plan..we now always arrange to take a spare atm card, internet banking is handy, because you can always transfer money from account to account..and you can easily keep up with fraudulent activities, if this should happen. Also always tell your bank before you travel where you are heading to...comes in handy if you are planning to use your credit card.
