We just got home this week and my brother had to use his credit card travel insurance as he contracted dengue fever. I dealt with it on his behalf as he was very sick. I can only comment on the medical side of the cover

Basically what happens is:
1st up you need to ring the insurance provider (phone number will be in the travel insurance product disclosure statement online). They say to ring reverse charge but I just rang them and gave them my bali number and they rang me straight back.

They will then tell you wish medical centre you are to attend for treatment. Bankwest was SOS (I had to ring NAB later in the holiday and their's was BIMC) Whilst on the phone they ask for all your personal details, credit card details, what is wrong with you, details of persons travelling with you etc etc.

They then give you a case number and follow it up with an email detailing how you can claim.

You can claim one of 2 ways:
1. Pay up front and claim when you get home or
2. Have to Insurer pay the hospital directly. For this to happen you need to provide the insurer with a copy of your credit card statement showing the credit card holders name, credit card number and the transaction for purchase of the flights, a signed privacy statement which they will email you plus a copy of your itinerary showing your flights. This can be done by email

From now on I will ensure that I have a copy of the credit card statement and itinerary on my laptop before I leave home. Otherwise it is a bit painful as it will usually require you to go to an internet cafe to scan your statement etc. My brother had an online copy of his credit card statement but as it didn't show his name (only the credit card number) he had to email them a scanned copy of his credit card.

At the hospital/clinic you just need to tell them your case number and they will claim directly from the insurance company

I hope this helps - just make sure you ring them sooner rather than later regarding which hospital/clinic they cover: my brother had originally gone to BIMC and had all the tests etc done there, then when I rang the insurance company then said he had to go to SOS and get re-tested etc.
