before a big europeam trip last year which included lots of flights i did a lot of research into this area as i also have medication which needs to be kept below a certain temperature-i found that i was not allowed to take ice bricks as carry on and most airlines advised that cabin crew would not be able to keep medication cool for me but may provide ice for my esky if they had sufficient supplies-!!! however i also discovered it would be dangerous to put medication in hold of aircraft as it was subject to great temperature changes and the medication could actually freeze which would destroy it-if i was you i would take a soft esky with ice to the airport, empty ice before security and then at each transit stop get some more ice to maintain cold temperature in esky-good luck-i sympathise with you-such a hassle!
