have some very strong opinions on the matter. The question was mostly supposed to ask about the Ubud maternity hospital. I checked out everything before we made the final decision to go to Bali at that stage of my pregnancy. The obstetrician Ok'd it (unless something changes), insurance will cover me (although at a huge cost if I wish to cover pregnancy related issues), and now the airline says there is no problem in flying.
For those who say I will be putting my unborn child at risk - does that mean every Indonesian women is putting her child at risk by having it in Indonesia? Having a child is the most natural thing in the world - not something to be worried about. Realistically, my unborn child will be much safer in my stomach in Bali than my 18mth old who can walk around and get up to trouble. Also, at late stages of pregnancy, you would have to be hospitalised yourself before anything could harm your unborn child developmentally.
If anyone cared to read the posts by the women who actually have been pregnant in Bali (Takemetobali, Frangipanis) - they state it was a great experience.
To set those minds at reast, I have been pregnant and to Bali before and understand completely what I'm getting myself into. I am also a medical professional and will be travelling with 4 experienced mothers (1 of which trained as a midwife).
If anyone has had any experience with Ubud maternity hospital (or been to visit it) we would love to hear you stories. Ditto if anyone has been pregnant in Bali and has stories. For anyone else that feels they need to be rude and hurtful, please find somewhere else to comment.
