Well where to begin? Won't give you a second by second jbr, just a few things.
Flew Garuda from Perth, great service. The closer we got to Bali the darker the sky grew, rain & thunder. I thought that we'd drop below the clouds and the sun would be out but unfortunately I was mistaken. I'm sure the plane landed on the runway sideways, very scary. Rain, OMG, I've never seen so much of it. Even though we were in Bali last Xmas and New Years,we didn't have a lot of it so it was a bit of a shock. Anyway, tried not to let that dampen (good choice of word)our spirits. Didn't get as much pool/sun time as we usually have, due to the rain, however, still managed to come home with a half decent tan. Had a bit of a wait at BGH before we could get into our room as I requested groundfloor in the new wing but it was worth it. Lovely and fresh and direct access into room from garden with swipe card.
We did manage to do 2 tours this time, WWR and an Ancient Bali tour which included a magnificent temple dating back to 11th century, apparantly not a lot of Aussies do this tour, mainly Europeans?? I was a bit worried about the amount of steps involved but managed it OK with only about 5 pit stops LOL. The tour also included a stops along the way at the woodcarving, silver, batik and painting villages.
Had some lovely meals at many restaurants including La Monde, TJ's, Indonational just to list a few, and several at the Boardwalk at BGH.
New Years Eve - after being in Bali last year, we were all prepared for a night of endless fireworks and frolics however an early downpour saw a lot of people leave the beach, only to return later with firewworks in arm. Still a fantastic fireworks display but not as spectacular as last year.
The only downside to this trip was the 3 of us getting food poisining (we ate at the asian foodhall at Discovery Shopping Cente) on the 3rd and 2nd last day of our holiday which we all spent in bed. If you've seen tag team wrestling you can imagine the 3 of us in and out of the bathroom all day and night, it realy was not pleasant and I do feel verys sorry for the poor housekeeping people at the hotel. It wasn't the way we'd planned to spend our last few days in Bali but we will give the foodhall a miss next time.
Smooth sailing through Bali airport. We used one of the Lounges at Bali airport, paid 250,000rph for 2 adults and 1 child. So much better than sitting around on hard seats.
Thanks for reading. Roll on March.
