Hi, I would like to post a reply I have recieved from the General Manager of The Legian, in regard to the aforementioned. I did express concern when the media warnings were shown on TV. However, I received an honest and accurate reply to which I am very grateful.
The Legian
I am in receipt of your email and fully understand your concern. I must advise that media does tend to exaggerate as we well know, and though the dengue fever has increased in the last 2 months, it can hardly be referred to as an epidemic. The construction sites in Bali are coming to an end, this is primarily the reason of the increase in cases, for the sites do not treat their pools which have filled with rainwater and left to stand untreated. The local government has been made aware of this and is cracking down on spot checks to ensure the water is either treated or emptied.
Our property fogs 6x a week, chlorinates all ponds and those that are not, have fish in them (which eat the larvae). We have mosquito coils in all the public areas, rooms and advise all guests just to be extra careful and apply more mosquito repellant than they normally would. The mosquito which carries dengue is only in action from 7am - approx. 1pm, so none of the night time bites are the dangerous kinds, but we can hang mosquito netting should you wish for this.
We have had a full house for the past week, have received no cancellations because of this and we hope the media will not ruin the start of what appears to be a promising year for us.
I am at your disposal for any further questions and do look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you to The Legian next month
were shown.
Anyway, like everything - be careful.
thanks
