I have done this many times. It is easy if you get all the correct paperwork first up. You need to supply everything first time as there is no "appeal" against a negative decision. I can find out exact prices if you like, but I am in the process of bringing out my brother-in-law, his wife & child. He has been out here before but not wife & child.
I have just sent Rp3000000 over for him to organise their 2 passports. This will cover passport application (around Rp600000) & also cover petrol, food etc. A letter from employer saying they have leave approved & a job to return to goes a long way.The visa fees are around Rp1000000. This covers the visa application & processing fee.
They don't need loads of money in an account if you can show you have sufficent funds to cover all expenses including medical. Travel insurance is a good idea for this.
A letter from yourself (I use a Stat Dec) stating you invite them (put their full name & D.O.B) to visit Australia. Where they will be staying & anything that you plan on doing while they are here. Places you will visit or any special events they will be attending. Certified copies of your passport & bank statement (available credit on credit card is ok)
On departure they will have to pay Rp2500000 Fiscal Tax unless they can produce a tax card. They are also subject to Rp150000 departure tax same as everybody else.
If you have any specific Q's I will be happy to answer.
