A few weeks ago I wrote to the Indonesian Consulate as I had come across some info on the 'net regarding duty excise in Indonesia. Some of you may recall the discussion had on that thread (my username was different then). I have today received an OFFICIAL reply from the Indonesian Consulate in Perth regarding the rates of duty excise for any alcohol over the duty free amount of 1 litre.
Basically any wine, beer or other alcohol containing not more than 15% alcohol is RP55,000 per litre. Spirits containing not more than 46% alcohol is RP125,000 per litre. I do have the actual document which lists everything if anyone wants it. I have left my email open, so just let me know and I will send it to you.
Hopefully that will put the issue to rest, as there IS an official duty amount (which I assumed there would be), which does not relate to importers only (as someone had suggested). Whether you declare any excess of course remains a personal choice...
