Just got back from a holiday in Bali which we booked the flights directly with Air Asia and the hotel accomodation seperately. We negotiated directly with the hotel from their 'contact us' on their website. Absolutely no problems.
Have just re-booked flights and hotel stay for next visit on line by myself too. Many of my friends book themselves too. Check out sites like ZUJI.com , agoda.com, tripadvisor, balihotels .... some sites will give you reviews and best prices too.
