Surely, this is a bit like being "not 100% pregnant" ??
You either are, or you are not?
I would have thought that the open promotion of a service by a licenced and regulated travel agent would have provided some legitimacy to the process.
I actually called the travel company here yesterday, and they assured me that it IS 100% legal (Hardly surprising really) ??
If a traveller were caught up in arrivals with legal issues because of the unknown % of illegality and it became an issue with the wholesaler and the travel agency itself, this would put the licences of both at risk surely?
I do not believe that authorised agents would risk that.
However, I am uncomfortable with the concept that overseas agents can sell this legally, but local agencies cannot.
It seems that as with many things in Bali people will be happy to buy into "grey areas" as long as it enhances their experience and they feel that it is right for them.
On this forum anyway, the question remains largely unanswered.
