Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this matter I suppose, me included. With travel insurance claims it is irrelevant if the accident is your fault or not, the same as car insurance in Oz. Are you not covered by your car insurance if hit a tree? Of course you are.
I too love nothing more than going for a stroll in the mornings to grab a few things or to work off the excess from the previous evening. But spending hours lugging bags of crap around laneways I would rather leave to others.
While it is not for everyone, and obviously I have struck upon some 'anti scooter riding in Bali folk' here, alot of people find that cruising around Bali on a bike is the only way to see the place. Much like bike touring at home.
But, like I said, each to their own.
