back yesterday after a quick 5 day visit to see some friends and catch up on a few things.
Rate yesterday hit AUD - Rp8,000.
Weather quite cool and breezy....good for those who dislike humidity.
No car this time, just the treadly around locally, and motor scooter for a quick Carrefour trip.
Strategic Air excellent.
Arrivals (I chickened out at the last minute and arranged VIP) we were through in just 5 minutes.
Landing time for Strategic was around 5.20pm, and although there were planes on the tarmac I have seen the queues much worse.
I am guessing average clearance around 1 hour, but I know another forumite was on the same flight (Wednesday 21st), and may be able to enlighten us further.
Most days an early morning cycle, and reminding myself that inevitably just one street back from the manic tourist strips, there is a whole new scene (Say Jalan Legian Vs Jalan Mataram for instance) and the local flavour is alive and well behind the thin veneer.
Spending a fair bit of time around the fringes of central Denpasar also reminded that the touristy stuff is only a very small percentage of the region, and in these other areas people just go about their daily business with little or no real interest in whatever some wandering tourist may be doing there.
Departures are still a problem, especially at the Air Asia check in (get there early if I were you) but Strategic were quicker.
The queues at Immigration after paying the customer service charge are long, with perhaps a 30 minute wait just for that.
Big queues also at Perth last night at about 6pm, with a few flights landing before the Strategic one.
No luggage to collect, so through in about 20 minutes.
Next trip in a few weeks time, back on Air Asia as Strategic prices (If not on Sale as this was) make 5 or 6 trips a year expensive.
