a country's medical facilities by it's private hospitals but by the public ones( the reason for this is that all the best resusatation gear and 24 hour brains on call are to be found at the large public hospitals. If you have a real emergency in Aust or NZ at a private hospital you will probably be transferred to the public facility) and did you know that virtually no doctors here have ever done additional training outside Indonesia and neither had their professors so their knowledge is limited.
Look at the qualifications after the name of a Western specialist and than look at what qualifications the specialists have here.
It's no coincidence that rich Indonesions and politians always seek treatment abroad.

I can't speak about Surya or private hospitals in Australia but I can in NZ. NZ hospitals have nurses trained to a much higher standard than Indonesia as are doctors. All specialists and surgeons must have extensive post graduate training from respected hospitals overseas in countries that lead the field in their speciality.
At Kasih Ebu they call on a heart specialist called Anwar who would not be considered a specialist in your country or mine.
In 2000 he put me on an ancient machine for a stress test and 8 minutes later prounounced that it was unnecessary for me to go back to NZ for treatment and that I could stay until my normal departure date in 8 months.
I faxed the printout of the results to my retired A and E specialist father who took them to Christchurch hospital Cardiology Dept who advised that I should get home pronto which my travel insurance did. I was accompanied by an Aussie doctor from Jakarta and I had a triple bypass some 5 days later.
The surgeon advised that there was no possibility that I would have survived more than another 2 or 3 months without the interventional surgery and I would have died long before the November departure date.
Doesn't give much confidence.
Had to have a hernia operation a few years back and was quoted NZD 6000.00 in Bali by a guy with only a basic medical degree. I returned to NZ and had it done by a hernia specialist for $2400.00. Even after paying my airfare the insurer saved around $1500.00 on the deal.
Can quote numerous other horror stories so it really is best to trust someone who has trained for around 12 to 15 years before he puts up his slate than a nice room and a guy with a good bedside manner.
