corned beef tin in carry-on?

hi, mrs satay has had lap-band surgery and is limited to what she can eat this trip. we intend taking 'deb' dried mashed potato and corned beef into paradise and dont have an issue with declaring it BUT will we be ok with it in hand luggage as we dont take check-in bags!!!???
