Flew Garuda and had a great flight with excellent service, own entertainment screen and good breakfast. Used Hadi's VIP VOA, Harry was the rep, bit of a language barrier issue but went through quickly and worth the money paid. Arrived at Kuta Paradiso, had to wait a bit for our room to be ready but had a lovely fourth floor room with pool and sea views. Had read previous posts on other forums of poor condition of this hotel and yes, it is starting to show signs of needing a facelift ie tiles cracked in the bathroom, mould in the grout etc but overall it is still a good hotel in a great central location with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The pool area is great with several smaller pools and a well used basketball hoop. The reception area is large and inviting but for a couple of days there was a group of guests that smoked that much the stench and haze was pretty bad as it rose up to our floor. We went for a ride at Bali Island Horse and the highlight was riding through a true Balinese village. Friends organised a driver for a trip to Ubud. They got a reasonable price for the trip but were surprised when the vehicle arrived for pick up was not the one the driver was standing next to the day it was booked, but rather, quite an old vehicle with an air conditioner that apparently did work but I fear in another lifetime! We did heaps of walking, shopping, massages, swimming and laughing. Had a great time. What didn't I like? There are some ignorant Australians that are quite rude to some helpful staff. I thanked the staff person myself on the ignorant pig's behalf as I was embarrassed to be Australian at the treatment I had witnessed. Overall a great holiday and planning next year's trip
