How To Rent a Cheap Appartment?

Hi, I'm just back from Bali (had to get back because of persistent ear infection), but I want to go back and when I do I don't want to stay a hotel but an apartment instead...

Before I left Bali I talked to a local (in Legian) and he told me he knew about an apartment complex called Melati, and that I could expect to pay around 1 million RP per month for one which is very cheap of course if you compare it to the hotels...

I want to stay in Bali/live in Bali for a longer period of time so I'm looking for something like that.

Does anyone here have experience with renting local apartments like that? If so can you share your experience and maybe some info that'll help me find apartments like that?
