Fingerprints are stored digitally so they don't have to take them again? The Indonesian stated reason for fingerprinting is to ensure that the person presenting the passport is the person who owns the passport (ie. to stop people travelling on false passports).
So how does comparing a digitally stored fingerprint with a passport do this? Providing the original holder of the passport had passed through Bali airport in the past, the passport could then be used for fraudulant entry. A 2 year old could work that out.
It makes me question the whole process - it obviously isn't following biometric identification processes, so what is it really for?
