Flew Jetstar 20th March Brisbane via Darwin then onto Bali, had a 4 hour stop over in Darwin which did drag on but knowing the next leg onto Bali was short kept me going. No problems at all with the flight. Arrived on time and the que was past the payment booths for the visa on arrival, however it only took around 1/2 an hour to get through to collect my bag. The customs guy just wanted to see the duty free so was out of there quick.
My Friend who arrived a few days before me was waiting along with Dipper from the Satriya. As we have stayed at the Satriya may times, I just ditched the bags at reception and had the first bintang at the bar. After about 4 more thought it best to check in so filled out the usual forms dumped bags off in the room then off to the Bounty. Got home at 3am feeling a bit worse for wear.
Wont go into to a day by day account as this was my 25th trip but have a few highlights to share.
We went to the Rock Bar (Ayana Resort) WOW, what a setting. The drinks and food where beautiful and generally Australian prices. For us we will make this a once a trip event.
Before going I there was 1 restaurant I wanted to vist Mozzarella in Padma st and I am glad we did. The service and good at this place was some of the best we came accross this trip. The portabella mushroom entree @ 30K (I think) was yum and to follow that I had the chicken and mushroom fettuchine 45K 2 small bintangs @ 12.5K each. One of our friends dropped his fork and it was snapped up and promply replaced basically before it hit the floor. I cannot reccommend this place enough. We went back twice which is something we try not to do in Bali.
Another great meal we had was at Sheppys in Melasti, (try the mushrooms with garlic and cheese sauce) yummy. This was a clean and well priced restaurant. The cold hand towels where welcomed by us all on arrival.
As we had a Bali virgin with us we went to lake Bedugal (hope thats spelt correct) it was a long drive so I would suggest if going here plan a few stops at other attractions etc on the way. We stopped at the markets just before you get to the lake and bought some peanuts, cashews, and general snacks. This market had all the spices you could ever want as well, the vanilla beans smelt divine.
Apart from the above we just did the usual massage, shopping, kuta beach sunset drinks etc etc etc.
Already planning the next trip in July
