VRBO Property #60988 Villa Mango Sunset.
Oh Colleen how disappointing. No help now I know but when you book through Home Away or Vacation Rental By Owner there is a rental guarantee (no extra charge) that covers 'material misrepresentation'.
We booked a house in Hawaii last month via VRBO. The property had about 80 glowing reviews but hey you hear stories where people turn up to a property and it is a vacant block of land. As soon as I booked I was forwarded the rental guarantee from VRBO to complete/register. This covered double bookings, bankruptcy, property not as represented blah blah blah. Reading the fine print I think you had to lodge your complaint with them on the day of arrival. Still may be worth advising them of the problems you had.
Lucky for us our house was as good as it appeared on VRBO. We also posted a positive review on the site after our stay which went first to the owner for their 'approval' so I think you may be wasting your time posting a negative review on VRBO.
I notice Villa Mango Sunset does not have any reviews - hmmm.
