Flew out of Perth on Monday 29th March at 4.50am with Air Asia - good flight meals ok and arrived in Bali at 8.20am - no other flights arrived so we paid our VOA picked up our bags and was out before 9.00am - we had organised a drive to pick us up and sure enough he was waiting - got to the Suriwathi hotel in Legian at approx 9.20am not bad going.
Our first room was a superior and as we had booked a deluxe we wanted to move so by the afternoon a deluxe room had been vacated and we moved into our room - these rooms are huge by any standard the bed very comfortable and a nice balcany to sit on and have a drink. We headed of to carefore to get our supplies eg. pillows, kettle, bintang, mixers etc. to make our stay more comfy. All that done a few drinks on the balcony then of for an early dinner then bed.
Here are some of the restuarants we ate in
During our stay we ate at the following places:-
Mozzarella in Legian (very good service and meals)
Garlic Lane (dinner great - breaky a bit of a shambles)
Legends ( great food and atmosphere)
Zannzibar (great food and portions)
Oceans (Mmmm might have been what we chose but wouldnt go back)
Yutz ( just ok)
Drops ( very nice)
Soppranos ( nice food but with the tax very expensive)
Nukenda (not sure of the spelling but very nice food and service)
Sheppys (always nice food and good service)
Indo National (excellent breakfasts service and great meals)went here a few times :-)
La Monde upstairs (nice meals)
Beach Shack (very nice)
My partner got 2 tattoos at Bali ink with Froggie and wow what an artist - he went over some old one's that my partner didnt like anymore both upper arms and it looked fantastic really impressed.
Stayed at the Elephant Safari Park Lodge in Taro - All I can say is WOW it was brilliant we only booked one night but wish it was for longer - we did the Night Safari and the Day Safari (all included) and bathed the elephants in the morning what an experience. Would definately do this again.
Went horseriding along the beach - there was so much rubbish along there including syringes dead animals heaps of plastic yuk - but I guess made it slightly interesting seeing what gets washed up on the beach thankgod I was high up on a horse - crossed the river and got absolutely soaked but it was hot and we all had a good laugh.
There are lots of sales on in the department stores so got heaps of baby clothes for my daughter (who's is having her first in a couple of months) in fact I just about filled my suitcase full.
Sorry to say but we had a bad experience in our first week - we caught a bluebird taxi from Tuban to our hotel - he wouldnt drive up to the hotel just to the end of the driveway which I didnt bother too much about - I paid and gave him a tip as you do - got out to go get my shopping and he drove off with my shopping - he could see me waving and yelling but he didnt stop - our friend rang the taxi company but we heard nothing back. I am a bit more weary now.
Anyway another great holiday in Bali - now the countdown until I go again in September :-)
