A Year or so ago my 11 and 13 yo grandaughters flew escorted to Bali to join us. The flight crew were great with them but the ground crew were not really because they insisted that they only needed a 7 day visa when in fact they were on the ground for 8 days. The 11 yo who has flown a lot knew and tried to insist that they needed a 30 day visa but being a kid was overruled. Naturally on our way home (with us luckily) I had to pay a fine but the kind man at passport control let me pay him there and then instead on going to the office.........and with two tired kids I accepted his (help) and on we went. Lucky they weren't flying home escorted!

On this occasion they would have been better unescorted because the 11yo knew exactly what to do from previous times.

On two previous when the 13 yo and her brother who were a couple of years younger then flew out escorted once with Garuda once Qantas the process was great and they were looked after very well.

The moral of the story is even if you arrange an escort by the airline still use the other poster's idea of written instructions and follow another family through as a back up!
