is something that is done through the school system and is widespread throughout bali.
It is usually,as far as I am aware, in their second year of senior high school that it happens and is not confined to hotels as our oldest sponsored child was doing training as a motorbike mechanic earlier this year,not sure if he is finished and back at school yet or not as I have been told it can be for up to 6 months and no normally they dont get paid and many many hotels have a never ending series of kids training year in year out but very very few seem to get a job in a hotel.
I have arranged for our second oldest sponsored child to do training in a hotel next year,through a balinese friend we have had for over 20 years but didnt ask about payment as the balinese in general think the training in general is important especially hopeing that they will then get work,which hopefully our child will get when she finishes her schooling the following year,it may not be straight to work but our friend is human resources manager so providing she does things satisfactorily i am confident she will get a job when one arises.
