mustang sally who sells jewellery outside the kuta inna, it seems this "unpaid training" of hotel workers is widespread. Coman reckons that he did 3 months in a hotel unpaid and was told that he could not speak with the guests which thankfully he ignored and improved his english. Now he works as a driver. While I was in Bali in December Sally said her son was working in a hotel "unpaid" also. I think it sounds like many of the hotels are using "training" as free labour.
