Left Perth at 7.15am and arrived in Bali at about 10.45. Straight through VOA, Immigration and customs and out the front door by 11am.
We looked for the driver from the Kusnadi who was supposed to be picking us up. I had emailed the day before and they confirmed.
We waited half an hour and nobody showed up. Uh oh I thought, I hope this isnt a taste of things to come from the Kusnadi....
Anyway we caught a cab and got there no problem. At the desk we asked about the driver. "oh yes he is at airport looking for you"
there was definately nobody there as we waited until all the other sign holders had gone and a few balinese even asked around for us.
Oh well no worries you can give us free transport when we leave. "ok" says the woman at the desk.
We got showed into our room (111) which was behind the block of rooms by the pool on the North side. The room was about 20 steps away from the pool. The rooms are tired but clean. Quite a bit of mould on the walls in the room (not the bathroom). Chunks out of the walls in places but really a bit of a patch up and a coat of paint are all these rooms need. There is no phone or kettle and they dont give you any water (but hey for the price who cares??)
We had a little extra room which had a single bed in it. As there were 3 of us and the little room was a bit warm we moved the bed into the main bedroom and used the little room for our luggage and shopping. Perfect!!! We were very happy in the room, beds comfy and aircon worked a treat. We had a king sized bed and the single bed. However if you are looking for top notch accommodation this place isnt for you.
The Kusnadi is a smaller hotel with about 25 rooms in it and they are currently building another 8 rooms from scratch. These are located on the North side. We were right near the building but it didnt worry me at all (earplugs) and the other 2 girls werent fussed either. They didnt start work too early though and didnt work too late which was good.
Breakfast was very simple but good. Usually 3 hot dishes such as noodles or rice, hash browns or tomatoes, bacon or sausages. Eggs could be ordered through the kitchen window and were cooked well.
We had lunch by the pool a few times and food was pretty good and a reasonable price. cocktails were about 65,000rp. There is a pool bar but its not really open. But somebody usually walks past the pool every 15 minutes or so - so that wasnt a problem getting service. If you were too late and all the pool towels were gone you got given a small towel (bit like a facewasher LOL) but that only happened once to us.
Only a smallish area around the pool with about 8 sun lounges but we didnt have trouble getting one at all (and there were 3 of us). Plenty of shade as well and pool was warm. The only thing I would mention in the negative was the area around the pool which was actually done in a slate type product was very slippery when wet (even though it looked like it wouldnt be slippery)
We were treated very very well with the desk staff calling me by name (booking was in my name) nothing was too much trouble. Internet was 3750rp for 15 mins and was easy to use.
The location was fantastic and lots of good restaurants and shopping nearby. There was a cheap laundry right outside the front door.
We all loved this hotel and most of the people who stayed there were repeat customers who have stayed there every trip for 15 or more years.
I would definately stay here again. For the price it was fantastic.
If anybody has any questions just ask :)
