Fistly, Good Luck! To start, you could park someone with your bags at a restaurant near the beach end of Poppies 1 & walk along Gang Sorga (first on the left from the beach). Several cheapies there. You will end up in Poppies 2 if you turn left then right - just ask.
Check out Poppies 2, then head towards Jl Legian, take a left into Jl Benesari - even more places to choose from. That area is a fave with surfers. Jl Benesari hits a T intersection where it goes to the right to Jl Legian or to the left towards the beach.
Actually, you'd probably be better starting in Poppies 2 & heading along Benesari. You really only need a room for a night or 2 so you can leisurely look around.
