We stayed at the Sanur Beach Villas from the 10th March to the 18th March.
This was our 2nd visit to SBV and the changes that Ron & Irma have made really add to the ambience of the place.
We return in September with family, so we used this trip to research what was around us, so I thought I'd share the info!

RESTAURANTS
SANUR
Char Ming - good food, nice atmosphere. A bit dearer than normal though still cheaper than Oz.
Gardenia - good basic food, make a great burger to cover a hangover! Cheap!! within walking distance too!
Kesumas - we had 8 king prawns, 2 serving of grilled squid, a Gado Gado, and drinks cost $30!!Great location on the beach, good service, you really can't beat this place.
Ducks Nutz - good food choice and cold beers, good value!
Piccadilly - Great menu choice with an English pub setting! Make a great beef rendang too!
Cafe Batu Jimbar - opp Hardies, this is always a good lunch stop. Make a great Nasi Goreng,
The Beach Cafe - Awesome setting, feet in the sand! Good menu choice and good value too.
Fortune Cookie - we had a meal delivered to us and the food was great, this was the night I was ill and I just wanted rice and vegies, hubby had lemon chicken which he said was good also.
Sale Pepe - we had pizzas delivered another night, and also spinach & ricotta ravioli with a duck mince sauce, it was divine!
KUTA
Poppies - we love this place, it's like an oasis in a busy world. Had Gado Gado here and it was yummy, hubby had the garlic prawns and spring rolls which he declared yummy also.
Celsius - in Centro, only had drinks here but food also available, great views!
SEMINYAK
Ku De Ta - we got here about 5ish and it was very hot. Had a couple of cocktails which cost about $13 but this was our splurge night.
Gado Gado - we walked down the beach to here, and watched the sun set! Great setting got some fab photos too. The menu was not big but the food was awesome! 2 entrees, 2 mains and drinks cost $90. But this was our only expensive meal and was delicious.
Bali Deli - the menu has shrunk and the service not as good, but the food tasted good.
We used Neesa laundry within walking distance from SBV, so easy and cheap as chips. They did a great job, overnight service and the clothes smelt so good afterwards.

On our last night we discovered the Mercure on the beach had happy hour at 5 and you get 2 for 1 drinks, we had a Pina Colada and sat on one of their day beds. We'll do this again in September!

The SBV was great value, with the red esky holding the coldest Bintangs in Bali, and very cheap too!
Breakfast was included and a great choice of eggs, fruit, pancakes etc. Irma makes a mean omelette.
We really enjoyed the Ogah Ogah parade. The Balinese really get into this and to see the joy on their faces was priceless. Especially the kids they just love it.
Nyepi day was great at the SBV, all guests contributed to the menu and we had a yummy meal. Ron was booked out for Nyepi day and thanks to Peiter and Rhonda for the aussie steaks that we had on the bbq this day. A fun day had by the pool and getting to know each other, although it was hard to keep everyone quiet at the end of the night!
We stayed in a villa which was very comfortable and roomy. Easy to get transport if needed or just walk to anywhere in Sanur. We met some great people at SBV who have become great friends!

We didn't shop much but we were still 7 kilos over! Went to Geneva, found Tootsies in Sanur, great bargains here. Also shopped at Ned Kelly's in Sanur for watches, and Leonie's shop for dresses. Did the Discovery centre, and visited Seminyak Square. Found Jenny's in Kuta, her new shop should be ready next month.

Got 4 canvas's done at Shoot, 1 large, 1 medium and 2 small. $180.
They look great, the large one is a sunrise over sanur beach which looks fantastic.

We travelled Jetstar via Darwin, and whilst these were very cheap flights we don't think we'd do this again. Going there is fine but coming back at 3.00am into Darwin was very hard. We fly direct next time.

Found that the weather was very humid; have never sweated like that before in Bali. For the first time in 6 trips I got sick, not sure from what, but with Imodium I was back out there after one day. I take Travellan so I was surprised that something affected me like that.

So that was this trip, looking forward to September when we return with 1st timers who we look forward to showing around.

Cheers,

Jo
