Perhaps you are not aware that a medical evacuation to Darwin costs around AUD$200K. Can you afford this? Can your parents? Costs lots more to your home city.

There are several posts over the past few months where a teenage girl, without travel insurance, dived into a pool at night & hurt herself so badly that she is now very incapacitated - Rhiannon (I think) - search here to see her story.

The only bike accident we ever had in over decades of going to Bali was on a back lane in Legian. So do not think that just because you plan to only tootle around Kuta & Legian that you will be accident-free.

You would be far better off either getting the proper International Lic before you leave AND travel insurance or catch taxis.
