I research what really interests me and is available to see or participate in during the time i visit. Some events or festivals are held on a particular date.
I then prioritise what i can comfortably fit in and still have every other day to do nothing in particular. Some activities i need to book in advance. Have never been disappointed.
Thankfully my family just goes along with anything i want to do.
Shopping and restaurants aren't really a priority for me, but i try to remember recommendations and might turn up at a recommended place if i'm in the area. I thought i'd put aside a day for shopping next trip, but nah, too many other interesting things happening in Bali and i haven't got long there :)
