Taking laptop to Bali

Hi all. I'm off to Bali on Sunday for my 4th visit and can't wait. I'm taking my laptop over. I'm on Virgin Broadband in Australia and have checked with them about using my USB modem in Indo. It can be done as long as I buy an Indo SIM card. Has anyone had any experience doing this? I'm hoping it's as easy as buying a SIM card for your mobile.
I'll be spending the majority of my time on Lembongan.
