There is only one Novotel in Lombok. It is at Kuta Lombok.
If your 14 year old is an experienced surfer, he could surf at Gerupuk about 14 kms away.
The driver I met from the Novotel was a fixer. He wanted to hire out motorcycles, sell land to me etc etc.
According to one poster on this forum, the drivers receive commision from the restuarants for every Novotel guest they bring to restuarants in Kuta Lombok. In turn, the restuarants have a special menu for Novotel guests with higher prices.
