is before they cull all the dogs, they need to look at a plan to deal with the rats, the dogs keep the rats down, I know at our house (open air), if we didn't have our 2 dogs (our cats are too small to catch them), then we would have more rats than we could deal with. We have 2 dogs at our office as well doing the same job.
Prior to having the dogs we had probably 10 rats a day running through our kitchen (the neighbors don't kill rats as they live in the rice fields and rice field animals are sacred).
There needs to be a strategic plan, not just cull and that's it.
It was mentioned on this forum by someone that they read the first rat with rabies had been discovered in Bali, now that is very scary as the rats are pretty aggressive as it is, and you can't lock them out when you live in an open air house.
I live here and deal with the dogs and the rats every day and my choice would be a dog over a rat, at least I can close the front gate to a dog.
When they discover a monkey with Rabies then I'm really worried.
When they come up with a strategic plan I will be open to the culling, I just don't believe solving one problem will not aggravate another.
