What CharlieBaliBear might be saying, and if not what she is saying than what i'm saying is Indonesian newspapers frequently report rats as being out of control in Bali.
One of the ways in which it isn't even worse is that the dogs have always helped to keep the rat population down. It's said to be a more effective method than poisoning the rats.
If you think there are a lot of dogs in Bali, can you imagine the size of the rat population? Balinese farmers don't need to imagine it. Their crops are frequently decimated by rats.
Less dogs means more rats means more diseases in humans from rats.
