I suggest that you do not post wood back to Australia. They will automatically send the wood off for fumigation and you have to pay for it. Then you will have to pick the wood up from the fumigation place.
If you carry the wood in your luggage, you can argue with Customs about whether the wood needs to be fumigated. If they insist on fumigation, you then have the option of asking them to bin the wooden articles, so you do not have to pay for fumigation.
All the parcels which I have posted to Australia, have been opened by Customs.
