shops will start to close a couple of days before (some shops) and may not open up again for several days after.
The day before it is recommended to buy up some provisions to see you through 24 - 48 hours (rolls, fillings etc)
The parade of the ogoh ogoh normally passes down Jalan Legian and on to the beach at around 6pm/7pm the evening before Nyepi day.
Some of the floats are electronic, incorporating sounds, movement and other effects.
The day after Nyepi and after judging of the best, the ogoh ogoh will be destroyed and/or burnt on the beach (near Kuta art market)
There is often a local fair set up adjascent to this with games and much gambling going on.
The first few times you experience Nyepi it is an eye opener.
