in my experience travels south on Jalan Legian in the direction of traffic flow (all streets are closed of course), and travels on to the beach road from there.
I have found Bemo Corner to be a great spot to be.
I have seen inconsiderate tourists sitting high on the shrine there, in shorts and no tops drinking Bintang to the annoyance of the Banjar guys supervising the proceedings (Move on notices swiftly issued).
Alongside the shrine is good.
The parade takes about an hour to go past any one static spot, but don't know what time kick off is.
Forget the MPV for this exercise...it's a shanks pony job.
