Hi,
Have haven't biked around the circumference of the island but my wife and I rode push bikes from Kuta to Ubud, then to Kintamani, Candi Dasa, Nusa Dua and back to Kuta. It was a great ride and took us 3 days. My wife and I are both very fit but 3 days on a bike in the heat and riding up hill was enough for us. Even still, it was a memory I will live with forver. There is nothing like moving through that wonderful island at a snails pace. Heaps of locals want to talk along the way and the kids love to run after the bikes. We stopped for a drink in most villages and chatted to the locals with my broken Bahasa Indonesian. It's a hard slog, really hard, especially up the last bit towards the Volcano. But the trip back downhill is easy. I'd recommend it to anyone. The route we took was safe (well, as safe as you can get on Bali roads anyway). Do it, you'll love it!
