Paying Deposit

I have just booked 4 nights at the KPand they have asked for 1 nights payment in advance. I have searched the forum and can see that this is a regular thing these days.

Can someone pls tell me do I just send my CC details in an email andleave it to them or do I attach it as a proper authority to only deduct the rate as quoted blah blah?

I have to admit that it seems a very risky thing to do but I can see no way around it. Has anyone ever found anything dodgy on their CC after doing this?
