We shopped at a supermarked in Klungklung, which was cheaper than the supermarkets in Kuta, though not by too much.
We bought 75 toothbrushes for just over $10, 20 pkts toothpaste for $7, shampoo, soap for about $5 for a whole heap.
We took over 18 soccer balls which I got from a local soccer club (second hand, but weren't being used here) and some frisbees I scored from the Heart Foundation. Bought some cheap skipping ropes (Coles were clearing them out at $1) and these were all greatly received.
Basically, the orphanages are almost solely reliant on donations, so anything you can give will be put to good use. They all share, so you don't need one each.
While I was there, I asked to use the bathroom (that's another story!!!) and I saw some of the kid's toothbrushes while I was in there. It made me feel really good that we had taken them some new ones.
