When in Bali we usually stay at the Masa inn and over the years we have come to know one of the long time guests of the Masa , Danny Pettite.
Danny is in his sixties, an American Vietnam Veteran, (I am an Australian VV so we had a bit in common), still teaches University in Japan and would not look out of place at a Nimbin hippie festival:)
Danny is a long time friend of the owners of the Masa and has a special room reserved for him everytime he is in Bali.
On our last trip in September I noticed that Danny had a walking stick and the Masa had place a stainless steel hand rail outside his room to help him up the few steps on his ground floor room.
Unfortunately Danny is not enjoying the best of health and every so often has to fly to WA for treatment.
He told me that he usually stays with friends in WA and if any BTF members have any info on Danny it would be appreciated.
I can open up my email if necessary.
Danny usually frequents TJ's and would have to be one of the most facinating people I have ever had the pleasure to talk to and if you happen to stay at the Masa he has a room right beside the front pool ( #138 or #139 look for handrail), you will know if he is there because his outside table will be full of half cups of black coffee, empty bottles of red wine and an ashtray full of butts (I say this in the nicest way).
If you see him or meet him pleae say hello from Gary, Jo, Norm and Blue.
