taking food on plane

hi there, have searched the archives for the info, but was all very random and non specific. Can anyone confirm that I am allowed to take my own food on Jetstar flights? Have a 5yr old with me so was planning on taking snack foods like biscuits, vegimite sandwhich etc....cheers in advance.
